Charity Campaign Graphics

Combined Federal Campaign 2024 Materials

Challenge:

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) allows federal employees to have donations directed from their paychecks to charities of their choosing. The overall campaign branding is set by the CFC’s contracted marketing agency, and since 2019 I have worked for them as a subcontractor to produce various promotional graphics and items using the campaign branding.

Process:

My direct client outlined the materials needed and provided the logo, color palette, typography and campaign logo. In addition, they gave me proposed posters and social media graphics I could use to influence my designs. One or two layouts are presented to the end client, and all items are ultimately delivered to the federal agencies in digital toolkits.

Final Designs:

  • Award certificates: these are not campaign-branded but rather more general to be evergreen. The fillable PDFs are 508 compliant and can be filled out in Acrobat Reader, then printed for framing.
  • Donor card: this is provided to agencies for distribution to their employees for a single point of information about donating. Fillable fields allow the campaign staff to include their agency name and code to make it easier for donating employees to complete the paperwork.
  • Infographic: this simple graphic was requested to show the flow of the donation process. It will be used in printed materials, presentations, and social media/online.
  • Digital badge: a small badge shared with employees who donate, they can use it in their social media or on their email signatures.
  • Handheld prop: for use at in-person events or at photo shoots, this 22-inch round sign includes the campaign slogan and URL.
  • PowerPoint “Feud” game: this is a PowerPoint presentation that is used as the basis for a game based on Family Feud that is played at fundraising meetings. It uses clickable animated graphics to reveal the answers and includes a few sound effects to complete the experience. A game guide PDF was also included for event organizers.
  • Charity listing catalog: this 170-page, Section 508-compatible PDF was created for uploading to the campaign website as a support material for agencies that may request it. The client provided the front cover design and basic type styles and I fleshed out the full book including a clickable map to access the list for each region, a detailed Table of Contents with PDF bookmarks, and a comprehensive index. Use of Adobe InDesign’s powerful formatting features sped up production, reducing errors in such a long document. A version suitable for print was also provided to the client for agencies desiring a traditional printed catalog.
